Allison Musto is the European Technical Service Manager for Borchers: A Milliken Brand, a global leader in coatings additives that was acquired by Milliken in 2020*. She joined Borchers in 2016 as a chemist, and is now based in Germany where her regional scope includes Europe and South Asia.

Tell us a bit about your role, what does it involve?
"I lead a team of chemists that is responsible for solving customers’ problems in paint formulations with Borchers’ additives and catalysts. I work closely with the regional sales teams to bring projects into our lab. This is to facilitate successful sales of our products by providing optimized solutions to customers. I am also involved in providing technical support to our customers, sales teams, and distribution networks via presentations, webinars, and trainings."

Can you outline a successful project you recently worked on, what was your role?
"Often, we are approached by customers with long-standing problems in their coatings and nothing is more rewarding to me than finding a solution to these challenging projects. Recently, I led a lab project to solve colorant separation in a decorative paint, where one of our rheology modifiers (Borchi® Gel PN) improved the paint’s stability and color performance. After many failed attempts by the customer to solve the problem, we had the right technology to improve the performance." (pictured below control-left & Borchi® Gel PN- right)

What do you like most about your position? What excites you about it?
"Firstly, watching my team grow and develop over the past three years has been very exciting. We started as a team of three in 2019 and are now a team of seven. It is great to see what we can accomplish now. Secondly, I love how much I learn every day in my role. Each customer has a new application or problem for us to solve and each region has different formulation demands for us to understand. There is always something new to learn and new challenges to face."

What is your favorite company memory?
"My favorite memories always involve spending time with my colleagues at conferences or events. I look forward to doing this again soon."

What do you like about the company?
"Coming from an acquisition, it is great to see the level of support and investment Milliken is bringing into Borchers. The vision for the growth of the Borchers brand is incredible."
