“Every day is a busy day!”

With a state-of-the-art chemical manufacturing plant and knowledge center in Singapore scheduled to open in 2021, Milliken is expanding its presence in the important, and growing, Asian market.

May Ying Pong has been with Milliken’s Chemical Division in Singapore for a year and a half where she manages customers’ product orders and other needs.

Tell us a bit about your role at Milliken. What project are you working on?
"I work with Milliken’s Chemical Division in customer service where I receive and process customer orders, manage logistics, and ensure that product delivery is on time and professionally undertaken. It’s important to process orders promptly but also to keep our customers updated on any shipment delays or challenges to avoid production line problems at their end."

How does your expert knowledge of Milliken products help customers when they need Milliken customer service?
"I take care of the Asian market and am always careful to follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to support customers. Whenever I‘m not familiar with any products I approach the Sales Account Manager who is very supportive."

What does a typical week look like for you?
"Every day is a busy day, managing customers’ project orders and needs. It’s a great role for a ‘people person’ like me!"

What is your favorite part of the job and what is special, for you, about Milliken?
"I work within a great team and I find all of my colleagues at Milliken really helpful. So, I would say my team and our camaraderie are real highlights of my working day. Everyone is so willing to share their expertise and help when needed. Milliken is special for me because I know that our products are used all the time in people’s daily lives from handwash to perfume and storage containers to other packaging. It’s a really special thing to be a part of."

What’s one piece of advice you have for someone looking for a job or internship at Milliken?
